Sycamore Square Group celebrates five years of strategic growth and social impact

Established in 2020, Sycamore Square Group (SSG) is celebrating five years of delivering strategic estates management and building consultancy across Yorkshire and the UK.

Founded by Debbie Lewis FRICS, MCIOB, MAPM, AaPS and Will Roberts MAPM, AaPS, the business was born from a shared vision and a long-standing professional partnership formed over 7 years working together at both SME and Global Professional consultancies. The duo launched SSG with a commitment to delivering client-focused, purpose-driven consultancy – even amidst the challenges of the pandemic.

“Starting during Covid was no easy feat,” reflects Debbie. “But we believed in each other and in building a business rooted in trust, flexibility, and delivering a personal experience to every client.”

Fast forward to 2025, SSG has earned a reputation for service excellence, innovation, and value-led delivery. With 90% of business coming from returning clients and 100% staff retention, Debbie and Will credit their success to a people-first approach – both internally and externally.

“At our core, we’re about meaningful partnerships – whether that’s with clients, communities, or our team,” says Will. “We’ve built a culture of honesty, recognition, and shared purpose.”

From temporary community pop-ups on pre-development sites, to engaging local youth through school placements, SSG weaves social value into every project. Their work on South Bank and Temple Works in Leeds on behalf of CEG, exemplifies this, where they’ve created pathways to employment with their supply chain, working with youth ex-offenders in a partnership with The Skill Mill and delivering community CPDs with Forging Futures.

Sustainability is also embedded in SSG’s ethos. As a Certified Carbon Neutral business, they invest annually in regional conservation volunteering and champion sustainable placemaking.

Will continues, “We’ve played a key role in all three phases of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS), securing and delivering £8.4 million in decarbonisation projects. With our expertise in the funding process, we’ve developed an eligibility checklist to help clients assess funding suitability prior to site visits and feasibility surveys. We’re committed to preserving buildings, improving energy efficiency, and promoting climate action, aiming to create lasting sustainable change in the public sector.”

SSG is also at the forefront of digital innovation. Recent investment in technology includes a Matterport scanner to create 3D digital site scans to improve productivity and communication and developing a Digital Twin at the University of Bradford – enhancing quality control, planning, and future-proofing their estate.

Debbie sums up their mission: “We deliver tailored professional services that maximise estate efficiency, manage lifecycle maintenance, and enhance long-term investment value. Quality, innovation, and impact are at the heart of everything we do.”

As SSG celebrates this milestone, it continues to grow with purpose – building stronger places, partnerships, and futures.
