Bradford Hospitals Charity launches Easter Appeal
Bradford Hospitals Charity is calling for donations to help brighten the day for patients spending Easter Sunday (5 April 2026) in hospital.
The charity, which supports Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, hopes to lift spirits across its hospital sites. They’re asking the public to donate chocolate eggs, small treats, and comforting gifts to patients.
Laura Riach, Bradford Hospitals Charity Director, said: “Easter can be a difficult time for people who find themselves in hospital. A simple gesture like receiving an Easter egg or treat can lift spirits and help patients feel cared for during what can be an anxious or lonely time.
“We’re asking our wonderful community to come together and help us make Easter special for children, families and adults receiving care across our hospitals.”
As well as chocolate eggs, the charity is encouraging donations of non-food treats, such as colouring books, crayons, soft toys, toiletries, and small comfort items like blankets – ideal for patients with dietary restrictions or those who cannot accept chocolate. If people would prefer to make a financial donation the charity can deliver a treat on their behalf.
Every year, the generosity of local people helps the charity deliver Easter surprises to hundreds of patients. These gifts are used not only to bring happiness, but to support play specialists, enhance wellbeing, and create positive moments during hospital stays.
“We’re continually humbled by the kindness of people across Bradford,” Laura added. “Every donation, big or small, helps to create smiles at a time when patients need them most.”
