Egg‑stra special Easter for patients at Bradford Teaching Hospitals

A record 3,000+ Easter eggs and toys have been delivered to patients across Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, thanks to a major community effort.

The donations were organised by Bradford Hospitals Charity, with local people, schools and businesses coming together to make sure patients visiting or spending Easter in hospital didn’t miss out.

Staff and volunteers handed out the eggs on wards in the run-up to the bank holiday weekend, bringing smiles to patients of all ages.

For many, the gesture meant more than just chocolate – offering comfort to those anxious about visiting hospital, or people facing long stays in hospital.

Deborah Griffith, Children’s Outpatients Senior Sister, said: “Thank you to everyone who has donated – we have never had a collection quite like it! All of our children LOVE chocolate as you can imagine and have been delighted to get an Easter egg, or crafts and cuddly toys if they couldn’t have chocolate.

“The parents in particular have been made up and the children are so excited as soon as they get them. As paediatric staff, we love giving these eggs and distraction toys out and seeing the instant smiles. A great big thank you to all of you who have gone above and beyond to bring such cheer and joy to us all.”
