Celebrating the Indomitables
The Bradford Bulls Community Foundation is delighted to invite fans, partners and the local community to a very special heritage event taking place on Thursday 2 July at the Trevor Foster Lounge and Legends Suite, Bradford Bulls RLFC.
This unique gathering marks the 80th anniversary of the famous 1946 “Indomitables” tour, one of the most inspiring chapters in rugby league history.
Doors open at 10:30am, with proceedings beginning promptly at 11:00am.
Celebrating the spirit of the Indomitables.
The 1946 British Lions side, known as the Indomitables, toured Australia and New Zealand in the months following the end of the Second World War. At a time when much of the world was still rebuilding, this team captured hearts with their determination, courage and love of the game.
They played a demanding schedule in challenging conditions, travelled great distances and competed in front of huge crowds. Their achievements on the field, alongside the spirit they showed off it, helped revive international rugby league and brought people together during a period of recovery and hope.
Eighty years on, this event will bring that remarkable story back to life while recognising its lasting impact on the sport and the Bradford rugby league community.
Special guests and speakers
The day will feature a strong line up of speakers and familiar faces from across the game, including:
- Shaun Flynn, Head of Bradford Bulls Foundation
- Jason Hirst, CEO of Bradford Bulls RLFC
- Professor Tony Collins, leading rugby league historian
- Simon Foster, Martin Whitcombe and Huw Richards, sharing memories and insights from the 1946 tour
- Dave Jones, leading key moments of the programme
- Martyn Sadler, delivering the vote of thanks
Guests will also hear from Brian Noble MBE, former Bradford Bulls player and coach, who will reflect on what it means to represent the British Lions and why the touring tradition still matters today.
There will also be ex player guests in attendance, giving supporters a chance to meet and chat with some of the personalities who have helped shape the club’s proud history.
