The best of the best: Site Manager wins Quality Award
A site manager overseeing the construction at Bramble Wood in North Yorkshire has won a top national award for the quality of the homes being built onsite.
David Wilson Homes’ site manager, Ricky Coulter-Bell (32), has won a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC), an award known as the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry.
In total, site managers working for David Wilson Homes’ parent company, Barratt Redrow Plc, have won 122 Pride in the Job awards this year alone – more than any other housebuilder.
This is the 22nd year in a row that Barratt Redrow has won the most Pride in the Job awards, underlining just how important building high quality sustainable homes has been to the developer over the past two decades.
Senior Site Manager, Ricky Coulter-Bell, has worked for David Wilson Homes for 15 years and he is celebrating his first NHBC award.
Ricky said: “Winning this award is a real honour. I was on holiday when the award winners were announced, so I was able to celebrate with my family too. It feels very rewarding to be recognised for the quality homes we deliver and the effort put in by the team to meet outstanding quality standards.
“Working at Bramble Wood is extremely rewarding. This award is very much a team achievement, with their support, commitment to quality, consistency and attention to detail, we are able to bring the very best homes to buyers.
“As well as the team at Bramble Wood, I’d like to thank Jo Hopkins and Josh Bolam for their continued support, alongside the subcontractors, suppliers, commercial and technical support teams.”
The awards recognise the very best site managers across the country, with thousands of inspections having taken place to determine the winners. Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
The competition is also at the heart of raising standards in housebuilding, with the awards showcasing the role site managers play in ensuring much needed new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites, and to the highest quality standards. With site managers passing on their skills to their teams and mentoring assistant site managers, the awards help drive up quality standards across the industry.
Daniel Smith, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: “We’re so proud of Ricky for achieving this prestigious Pride in the Job Quality Award. It’s amazing news for both the team at Bramble Wood and for our customers.
“These awards demonstrate our long-term commitment to looking after our customers and building high quality homes. They also showcase what it takes to be a top site manager, recognising the hard work from the entire team, including suppliers and contractors. Anyone who buys a home from a site with a Pride in the Job award winner knows their home has been built to the highest standard.”
Earlier this year Barratt Redrow also achieved a five-star rating from its customers in the HBF Customer Satisfaction Survey, which recognises both build quality and excellence in customer care. This is the 17th year in a row that Barratt Redrow customers have rated it a five-star housebuilder, underlining its long-term commitment to making its customers happy.
