The village of Copmanthorpe celebrated its 58th annual summer carnival with help from local developer, Barratt Homes, who donated £1,500 to the running of the week of festivities.

B&DWYE – Barratt Homes Stall Activities at Cop’ Carnival

The Cop’ Carnival, which takes place near Barratt Homes’ Russett Park development, is an annual family friendly summer event in the village, which took place from the 29th of June until the 4th of July.

Throughout the week there were a wide variety of activities including wine tasting, a psychic night and an art exhibition, and ended with an all-day festival on the Saturday.

As well as this, the event hosted a wide variety of stalls ranging from games and competitions to clothes and accessories. There were also street food stalls, sweet treats and bar tents.

The event is run by members of the community, with all of the proceeds made going to the Copmanthorpe Recreation Centre.

Alan Murray, Chair of the Cop’ Carnival, said: “A huge thank you again to Barratt Homes for their support and sponsorship of Cop’ Carnival 2026. As a provider of new housing to further enhance the village and its strong community, it is great that Barratt Homes have again recognised the importance of events such as the Cop’ Carnival to foster and maintain that.

“It was great to see the residents visiting Barratt Homes’ stall and enjoying the activities! We look forward to continuing this strong partnership into 2027.”

Paul Hogan, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Yorkshire East, said: “We’re delighted to have sponsored this year’s Cop’ Carnival and are pleased to see the event was a great success again. We hope some of our new residents at Russet Park were able to enjoy the festivities.”

Russet Park is steadily growing into a vibrant community, which will feature acres of green open space including a community orchard and play park.

Residents can also benefit from a range of amenities surrounding the development including schools, supermarkets, a library and a golf course as well as being a short drive away from the City of York.
