We are delighted to announce that the annual Wharfedale Ton will be returning for its 8th year on Friday 28 June

What is the Ton?

The Ton is a charity challenge taking on a 100 mile ride in one day, routed through the fantastic Yorkshire countryside.

Organised by law firm partner at Gordons LLP, Philip Paget, the event attracts up to 300 cyclists from local businesses and has raised nearly £80,000 since its launch in 2016, for Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospice in Bradford, supporting them to provide a range of services for cancer sufferers and their families in Bradford.

The details

The event will start and end at Ilkley Rugby Club, from 7.30am, with refreshment stops at 25, 50 and 75 miles and is all professionally signposted.

The challenge is open to any cyclists looking for a great day out as well as an opportunity to network with other businesses in the area.

Phil says ‘Ever since the Tour de Yorkshire, back in 2014, cycling has continued to grow as an amateur sport. Due to the fantastic scenery in the local area many people love to take a ride out in the fairer months. We wanted to galvanise that popularity amongst local business professionals and business owners, and give people the opportunity to come together, to celebrate their shared love of cycling and raise money for a worthy cause.

‘It’s fantastic to see so many people from around Yorkshire getting on their bikes to take on the challenge for such a great cause. We’re also very grateful for the support provided by local businesses in the organisation of the event, as without them the Wharfedale Ton would not be as successful as it is.

‘I am very proud of all those who take part, not only for their efforts during the rides but also those who donated so generously for such a good cause.

‘We are very happy to be able to support the hospice and everything they do, in this way.’
