A new era for GSAL’s business networking group
The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) is delighted to announce the successful relaunch of its business networking group (BNG), an initiative designed to connect alumni, parents and the wider GSAL community through professional networking opportunities.
Originally launched in 2011 as a platform for parents to meet, make contacts and exchange ideas, the inaugural BNG featured guest speaker Dinah Bennett OBE, who discussed the benefits of networking and relationship management. The event was met with positive feedback, with participants praising the opportunity to engage with like-minded professionals and gain valuable business insights.
Now revitalised, the BNG continues to provide a dynamic platform for industry professionals to share insights, collaborate and expand their networks.
The first event of the relaunched BNG took place on 7 November 2024 and featured keynote speaker Rachel Woolford (GSAL14), entrepreneur and winner of BBC’s The Apprentice in 2024. As the mastermind behind North Studio, Rachel shared exclusive insights into her business journey, inspiring attendees with her experiences in entrepreneurship and leadership. The event was met with great enthusiasm, drawing strong interest from the GSAL community.
Building on this success, the second event was held on 13 March 2025, featuring Rashik Parmar MBE, a renowned leader in technological innovation. Rashik explored the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving business growth and optimising operations. With over 35 years of experience, including leadership roles at IBM and BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, Rashik provided attendees with invaluable insights into the future of AI in business. The event saw a fantastic turnout, demonstrating the growing momentum of the BNG.

Now revitalised, GSAL’s BNG continues to provide a dynamic platform for industry professionals to share insights, collaborate and expand their networks.
Looking ahead, the next BNG event will take place in June. Further details will be announced shortly.
“We’re thrilled with the response to the return of the Business Networking Group,” said Sue Woodroofe, Principal at GSAL. “It’s fantastic to see our alumni and wider school community coming together to foster meaningful professional relationships. We look forward to building on this success in the coming months.”
