Building inclusive businesses. Strengthening our region.

The Institute for Equity University Centre is proud to launch two new networks designed to support the growth of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across Yorkshire. In a fast-changing business environment, organisations that truly understand their workforce are better placed to attract and retain talent, build trust and ensure colleagues feel valued. Just as importantly, clients, customers and communities increasingly expect organisations to reflect and respond to their diverse needs.

Based in Huddersfield, the Institute for Equity University Centre has an established track record of working with high-profile organisations including the Metropolitan Police Service, the Church of England, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the British Council, among many others. Our work is informed by research and focused on real-world impact. Our mission is clear: we develop people to transform systems, structures and processes.

We commission, publish and support research, advance thought leadership and work in partnership with individuals and institutions nationally and internationally to strengthen EDI knowledge, understanding and practice. We offer practical, expert support across a wide range of needs, including EDI policies and strategies, staff development, inclusive recruitment processes, grievances and confidential HR matters, as well as research and evaluation.

Our two newly established networks offer distinct but complementary opportunities. The Yorkshire Equity and Inclusion Network brings together businesses from across the region through a hybrid programme of in-person events and online webinars, creating a space to share learning and develop effective EDI policy and practice. The EDI Professionals Together Network is designed for those working directly in EDI roles, offering collaboration, shared problem-solving around complex challenges, and peer support in what can often be emotionally demanding work.
