Castle Howard and Brew York create bespoke beer to celebrate Oz Christmas extravaganza
Castle Howard and Brew York have collaborated on a unique beer for the festive season celebrating the stately home’s Wizard of Oz Christmas experience. ‘No Place Like Home’, a Hazy Session IPA with a citrus character and floral notes, is brewed at Brew York’s Osbaldwick location and stocked exclusively at Castle Howard for the duration of their Christmas events.
Castle Howard’s custodian Nicholas Howard visited the brewery for a tour with founder Lee Grabham, seeing the brewing process in action and tasting the beer before it landed in the Castle Howard Farm Shop and Christmas Shop.

The beer has been described by Brew York as ‘perfect for a winter’s day’ due to its vibrant character and has been brewed inspired by the Christmas at Castle Howard with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz immersive experience which opened to visitors in November. The 300-year-old House is dressed in set pieces, decorations, floristry, projections, lighting and sound, set to delight tens of thousands of visitors over a 7-week period.
Adam Barber, Castle Howard’s Head of Retail, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Brew York to create a unique product that celebrates our Oz extravaganza. They are a jewel in York’s craft brewery crown – their quirky approach to products makes them a perfect creative collaborator, and their local, sustainable approach aligns with our own values. The beer is a great Christmas gift for beer and Oz fans alike!”

No Place Like Home Hazy Session IPA is available in the Castle Howard Farm Shop and Christmas Shop. Christmas at Castle Howard with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz runs until 4th January.
