Crysp visit the US: Women in BIM & Digital Twin Event

Bradford based technology business, Crysp have been in the US again, supporting two initiatives and celebrating their recent successes.

Initiative 1: Women in BIM in New York

“We aim to encourage women in BIM related roles to have a strong voice. By bringing together women in our industry supports the need to bridge digital skills shortages around the world in digital construction capabilities and deliverables.”

Initiative 2: Digital Twin Event in Reston, Virginia

“This public event is packed with insight from interactive demos to thought-provoking keynote presentations and panel discussions on digital engineering, digital transformation, latest advances in Enterprise XR, the evolution of digital twins, and the impact of AI across industries”

Will Evans-Jones, Policy & Representation Executive at the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, posed some questions to Crysp about their recent trip to the US:

What was the purpose of your visit? Did you have any hopes and aspirations as outcomes of your trip?

“Our purpose of visiting the US was to set the standards for best practice on international collaboration on digital innovation, transformation and the development of digital twins. The objective was to establish a series of innovation Testbeds with our key strategic partners.  The mission was to strengthen already standing relationships, alongside laying the groundwork to break into the US market.”

What are your thoughts on internationalisation?

“As a business we are inherently tackling a problem faced by every property owner globally.  We are also uniquely positioned to influence global standards with immediate impact in over 33 countries.”

A Bradford business putting the city on the map in the US. You are showing this is possible?

“As a company founded out of Bradford it is exciting to share our journey, and hopefully this will encourage and inspire others to join us on the path.”

Who have you contacted / collaborated with on the mission?

“Whilst we spent time here flying the flag for Women in BIM and making key connections with the British Consulate.  We also had the privilege of lecturing at Penn State University, specifically the Pratt Institute. Onto week two of our travels we have had great conversations whilst at the digital twin consortium meeting in Washington DC, part of the Object management group. We were able to establish a testbed framework with over 50 companies activity looking to engage and participate. This included global names such as DNV, Tuv Sud, Northrup Grumman, NASA, Dell, and many others.”

How can the chamber help?

“The chamber can support us in sharing our journey and introducing people who would like to be a part of what we are creating. Our ask is, if you have a building that you are responsible for, do you know it is safe? Do you understand your risks? And finally, if something bad happened is it your fault?”
