Help us meet the challenge of supporting residents to live independently and well

To help the Council meet one of its most important and significant challenges, residents are invited to help refine and shape a new strategy that will guide the way Adult Social Care is delivered in York, while meeting the Council’s duties and ambitions.

The Council’s ambition is to support people to live happier, healthier, longer and more independent lives, while reducing inequalities. It aims to achieve this by working with partners to provide support at home that is accessible, affordable, safe, high quality, and which promotes fairness and independence.

Residents receiving care and support, their families, carers and professionals working in the sector are encouraged to take part in shaping the strategy to meet these aims, to help ensure the new strategy is meaningful and effective for residents.

Please take part if you:

  • receive care or support
  • are a resident of York
  • work for or with organisations that deliver care and support
  • belong to a charity, voluntary or community sector organisation
  • are a carer, friend, neighbour or family member of an adult who receives social care in York.

You can choose the way that’s best for you to take part:

Councillor Lucy Steels-Walshaw, Executive Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care at City of York Council, said:

“Together, we can help ensure York is a city where everyone thrives and where people are empowered to make decisions over their own lives, with equal access to support when it’s needed that truly makes a difference.

“The voices of people with lived experience are vital to hearing about what is important to our residents.

“Please join me in sharing your views to create an Adult Social Care Strategy which makes York residents healthier, more independent and more included in decisions that affect them”.
