Introducing The York Clinic

The York Clinic is a new private medical service set up to provide menopause support for individuals and organisations.

Who are we?

We are a new healthcare company, comprising two specialist doctors, and one specialist nurse, founded with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of women experiencing menopause. All our clinicians hold postgraduate qualifications in Women’s Health with the Royal Colleges, and both doctors are accredited by the British Menopause Association to provide expert care, and to train medical specialists. Based in York, we  have all trained in, and also concurrently work within specialist NHS primary care women’s health clinics. The York Clinic was founded in 2024 due to growing needs of women, and no provision of a local dedicated menopause service.

Why is it important?

The impact of menopause in the workplace is profound. 91% of women with symptoms feel it had a detrimental effect on their ability to work. In addition, it can lead to increased sick days, reduced productivity and 10% of women have left their job due to severe symptoms. We believe we can help change the tide when it comes to menopause.

As you may be aware, employers now have a legal obligation to adapt the environment and working practices to support women experiencing menopausal symptoms. Workplace adaptations are required under the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Equality Act and Disability and Discrimination Act. Despite the significant impact, only 30% of workplaces offer any sort of menopause-related support or policies.

What can we do?

We will help your organisation to support women to remain in the workplace and perform at their best. We believe this can be achieved by developing awareness at all organisational levels, creating a cultural shift and a supportive environment. We want to ensure all organisations are compliant and have a legacy to support their workforce in the long term.
