Kids eat free at Hetty & Betty!
With ever rising costs, small business owners are really starting to feel the pinch. This February we want to help parents take a break from the roller coaster that is running a small business, and enjoy some family quality time that doesn’t cost the Earth.
As parents we know how difficult it can be to plan a family day out without breaking the bank. From the cost of car parking, to activities, the costs soon add up. And we too have experienced eating out with a picky eater, the feeling of regret at buying a kids meal and only two bites have been eaten!
For the whole month of February, kids eat free here at Hetty & Betty. For every two adult main meals ordered, you can get a free kids meal. So you can treat yourself to our famous Fish and Chips Afternoon Tea for Two and get a kids meal free!
We’ve also put some together some top tips for free or low cost activities too:
– Hunting the famous landmarks. From the whalebones, the Abbey, to the Keyhole Tunnel, there are so many landmarks to find in Whitby.
– Climb the 199 steps, and see if you can do it without losing count (or your breath!). Not everyone has found them, but there are roundels at intervals on the steps, that will help you keep track. See if you can spot them.
– Beach walks and fossil hunting. Whitby sits on the Jurassic Coast, and so there’s every chance you can spot a fossil. Be aware of the tide times, which are written every day on the board on the little hut on the bridge. The tide can come in quite quickly, and its not unusual for people to be cut off and get stranded on small islands, as they realise too late that the sea has surrounded them.
– Crabbing. A great activity for kids. You need a bucket and net which can be purchased cheaply from local shops. And you can pick up crab bait for around £1 – the butchers are great for this as crabs love sausages meat and bacon! Remember to keep the number of crabs in the bucket to a maximum of six at a time, and always return them quickly to the water. Top tip: crabbing is the best when the tide is at its highest, as this is when the crabs come out feed.
– Pannet Park. The central park in Whitby, it is home to a fabulous pirate themed play park. The park is not dog friendly, so you won’t be able to take your pooch in with you.
– Whitby museum. Pannet park is also home to Whitby museum. A great museum for the whole family. There is a an entrance fee for the museum.
You can put together a full day itinerary in Whitby, without breaking the bank, especially with our Kids Eat Free offer!
