Live theatre will bring HR challenges to life at free Leeds event
Employment law developments, recruitment trends and the most pressing workplace challenges will be brought to life through live theatre at a free event, organised by LCF Law and Hays Recruitment, for employers and HR professionals in Leeds next month.
The Workplace HR Challenges event will take place on Thursday 12 November, from 9am to 12.30pm, at The Terrace, 3 Wellington Place, Leeds. The morning will bring together experts and guest speakers to explore the changing employment landscape.
Director at Hays Recruitment, James O’Neill, will provide an insight into the current recruitment market, looking at talent attraction, retention challenges and changing expectations among today’s workforce.
Employment law partner James Austin, from LCF Law, will detail developments in employment law including sexual harassment and disability discrimination, as well as examining measures employers can take to create a compliant and inclusive workplace.
The event will also feature personal perspectives from guest speakers, Olga Geidane, who is a motivational speaker and Mike Bedford who is a coach for neurodivergent leaders. Olga will share her experience of sexual harassment and its impact, highlighting the importance of safe and respectful workplaces, whilst Mike will share his lived experience of neurodiversity and explore how employers can create more inclusive and supportive working environments.
A key feature of the event will be a live theatrical performance from West Yorkshire based Soundproof Box, which delivers interactive theatre to set the scene for social change and will act out real-world workplace scenarios to explore HR challenges and employment issues.
The production brings employment law issues to life through performance, with Soundproof Box’s productions having previously been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a leading US university.
James Austin said: “The success of our last event on how to solve recruitment and retention challenges demonstrated the appetite among employers and HR professionals for more practical insights into the challenges facing workplaces today.
“This event builds on that success by combining expert guidance and lived experience with a theatrical element that brings employment law and workplace issues to life. Seeing these situations played out through performance provides a different way of considering the practical challenges employers can face and the impact workplace decisions can have on individuals.
“With recruitment pressures, changing workforce expectations and continuing developments in employment law, it is important that employers understand both their legal responsibilities and the wider workplace context. This event is designed to provide that insight in an engaging and practical format.”
