New year, new job? Visit Acomb Jobs Fair

Anyone looking for work, support with training or getting new qualifications is invited to the latest Acomb Jobs Fair on Wednesday (22 January).

The event will be held from 11am – 2pm at Acomb Parish Church Hall, Front Street, YO24 3BZ, and will include representatives from a wide range of employers and employment agencies from across the city, including:

  • Network Rail recruiting to roles ranging from trainees and apprenticeships to more senior jobs
  • Benenden Health offering hands-on care work to administration roles
  • Splendid Hospitality Group are looking for staff from receptionists to housekeepers
  • OneBright are looking for customer service assistants
  • Fortus UK are recruiting to a range of roles from apprenticeships to experienced staff.

Other employers attending include charitable social enterprise, Better (GLL);  the Royal Navy Submarine Service;  CGC Event Caterers (York Racecourse & Community Stadium) and Babcock International Group; alongside a number of employment agencies.

City of York Council’s Learning service will be offering support with CV writing, advice on how to apply for jobs and other information on securing a job or training.

There will be opportunities for interviews on the day, so prospective employees are asked to come prepared with photo ID.

Cllr Pete Kilbane, Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Economy and Culture, with responsibility for Skills, said: “These popular jobs fairs have a track record of moving people into employment, supporting employers and adding the economic vibrancy of the city.

“If you’re looking to start, further or change your career, the Acomb Jobs Fair is a great opportunity to get a flavour of the variety of jobs on offer across the city.”
