The best of the best: North Yorkshire Site Manager wins Quality Award
A site manager overseeing the construction at a housing development in North Yorkshire has won a top national award for the quality of the homes being built onsite.
David Wilson Homes’ site manager, Leanne Hardcastle (33), has won a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC), an award known as the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry.
In total, site managers working for David Wilson Homes’ parent company, Barratt Redrow Plc, have won 122 Pride in the Job awards this year alone – more than any other housebuilder.
This is the 22nd year in a row that Barratt Redrow has won the most Pride in the Job awards, underlining just how important building high quality sustainable homes has been to the developer over the past two decades.

Leanne Hardcastle will be celebrating 10 years working for Barratt and David Wilson Homes in September. Having started on the accelerated construction programme as a trainee assistant, Leanne has worked her way up to senior site manager at the Grey Towers Village development in Nunthorpe. This is Leanne’s third Pride in the Job award.
Leanne said: “I am over the moon to have achieved this award for a third time. We have been building at Grey Towers Village for over 14 years and it has been a privilege to win all three awards here.
“The site team at Grey Towers Village have been onboard since day one and consistently work to deliver the high standard which has helped us to win this award.
“I would like to thank my assistant, Mick Boyle, and everyone involved at the development. I would also like to thank the contracts managers who I have had the pleasure of working with, all of whom have provided tailored support and insight into site management.”
The awards recognise the very best site managers across the country, with thousands of inspections having taken place to determine the winners. Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
The competition is also at the heart of raising standards in housebuilding, with the awards showcasing the role site managers play in ensuring much needed new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites, and to the highest quality standards. With site managers passing on their skills to their teams and mentoring assistant site managers, the awards help drive up quality standards across the industry.

This is the 17th year in a row that Barratt Redrow customers have rated it a five-star housebuilder, underlining its long-term commitment to making its customers happy.
