Watson Buckle excites young minds at STEM fair
Accountancy firm Watson Buckle has helped children at Sandal Primary School in Baildon learn more about the job of an accountant at the school’s Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) fair.
Gillian Craven and William Scrimshaw visited the school to share their experiences of being accountants at one of Bradford’s leading independent firms and explained to kids from nursery to year six what their roles involved.
The children were intrigued by what they had to say, and they were able to learn more about the maths and technology skills that accountants require.
Gillian, a Director at Watson Buckle, said: “It was great meeting so many young people with a strong interest in STEM. We spoke to a lot of students of all ages about what we do, and our importance within the world of work.
“It was interesting to hear what they did and didn’t know about accountants, and we hope we can spark the interest of some of the children who attended.”
Watson Buckle has a long and proud tradition of reaching out to schools and young people of all ages across the region, to help them understand what a career in accounting entails.
It is part of their drive to encourage a new generation of young professionals to join the accounting industry, who may one day work at Watson Buckle.
“Nurturing and providing an attractive proposition to youngsters is an essential part of our firm’s future, and we were delighted to participate in this event at Sandal Primary School,” added Gillian.
