YorEnergy retrofit event to help York and North Yorkshire residents cut bills and make homes warmer
Residents across York and North Yorkshire are invited to discover how to make their homes warmer, greener, and cheaper to run at the YorEnergy Retrofit Futures event on Tuesday 25 November 2025 at York Guildhall.
The event also marks the public launch of YorEnergy, a new end-to-end home retrofit service developed through the Retrofit One Stop Shop York (ROSSY) project, a major regional initiative led by City of York Council with support from the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, York Community Energy, Brightsparks Agency, Energy Systems Catapult, Abundance Investment, University of York, and Wrapt.
The afternoon session (3-6pm) is designed specifically for residents who want to learn how to improve energy efficiency and comfort at home, and how YorEnergy can support them.
Visitors will be able to:
● Get free, impartial advice from YorEnergy’s expert advisors.
● Book a whole-home energy assessment tailored to their property.
● Compare competitive quotes from trusted local suppliers through the YorEnergy marketplace.
● Explore finance options to spread the cost of home upgrades.
● Meet retrofit suppliers showcasing technologies such as insulation, solar PV, and heat pumps.
● Hear real stories from York homeowners who’ve already transformed their homes through retrofit.

YorEnergy brings together everything households need to take action on home energy, from advice and assessment through to installation and finance, making retrofit simple and accessible for everyone.
Earlier in the day, the event will also feature a supplier and installer session aimed at those working within the retrofit sector, as well as a morning session for local government officers, councillors, and net zero professionals exploring how retrofit One Stop Shops can accelerate local climate ambitions.
Councillor Jenny Kent from City of York Council will be attending the event. She said:
“YorEnergy has been developed to help us cut costs and increase the comfort of our homes. As well as the online platform and real life advisors, YorEnergy is offering tours of a fully retrofitted Victorian terraced house in York, to showcase how it can be done.
“This event is another way of giving people the information and contacts they need to cut fuel bills and keep homes warm.”
David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, will also be attending and said:
“Our homes should be a place of comfort and warmth, but we know too many people in our region have been hit by rising energy costs.
“We’re working with ROSSY partners to transform homes across the region, saving households up to £1,000 a year in energy costs.”
“ROSSY is leading the way, while providing a valuable service for people in our region to create comfortable places to live, work and visit, all while supporting local businesses to deliver their services.”
Andy Simpson, Managing Director of YorEnergy, said:
“YorEnergy is about making retrofit real and practical for local people. We know residents want to save energy, reduce costs and make their homes more comfortable but it’s often hard to know where to start. This event is a chance to see how simple it can be.”
