York Station Gateway Project
As part of plans to create a new and improved gateway to York City, there will be some changes to the York Station long-stay car park.
From 31 July, sections of the long-stay car park will be closed, resulting in 126 fewer parking spaces. There’s no change to the location of the long-stay car park entrance, but customers are encouraged to allow extra time to find alternative parking should this be needed. Alternative facilities can be found at Leeman Road – please search for postcode YO26 4ZD.
Throughout the construction phase of the works, there will be no loss in the number of blue badge parking bays in the long-stay car park, and these will always be clearly marked.
We are working hard to minimise disruption whilst we work in partnership with colleagues from the City of York Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Network Rail to deliver this major upgrade, which is due to be completed in 2025.
The York Station Gateway project will:
- Improve access to the station by providing an easier and safer experience for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users.
- Introduce welcoming new public spaces for everybody to enjoy.
- Showcase the city’s heritage sites at their very best.
