Yorkshire garden centre group donates to Bradford Central food bank
The teams at a Bradford headquartered garden centre group have donated to foodbanks in areas around their centres.
Yorkshire Garden Centres donated over 400 items to food banks serving the communities around their sites at Tong, Tingley, Otley, Bingley, York and Scarborough.
Employees at all sites have donated non-perishable food items to be distributed to people in need via the Trussell Trust.
“Winter is the busiest time for food banks in the Trussell community. We expect this year to be just as challenging as more people struggle to afford even the essentials at this expensive time of year, so we’re very grateful for the donations from Yorkshire Garden Centres,” said a representative for the Trussell Trust.
Steph Harrison, Group People and Culture Manager at Yorkshire Garden Centres said: “Our local communities are at the heart of all of our businesses and the team all wanted to do something to help people in need. Their generous donations were very gratefully received by the Trussell Trust and were supplemented by a £100 donation from our Kindness Pot.”
The Trussell Trust is an anti-poverty charity and community of food banks. Its 36,000 volunteers work across 1,400 food banks to provide food and practical support to people left without enough money to live on.
The Yorkshire Garden Centres group employs over 600 people across its sites in West and North Yorkshire.
