Young Yorkshire cricketer scores GCSE success

Lolita, a young Yorkshire cricketer and student at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL), is celebrating after receiving her GCSE results.

Lolita, a standout cricketer who has played for Yorkshire since 2024, was named the highest wicket taker at the end of her team’s last season. She recently scored her first 50 for Nottinghamshire as captain of the under-16s and is also part of the county’s Emerging Players Programme.

After her GCSE success, Lolita is staying on at GSAL to study A-levels in economics, maths and physical education. “I’m inspired by so many cricketers including Travis Head and Jacob Bethell,” said Lolita. “My plans for this season and next are to push for the Blaze Cricket Academy. I’d love to play professionally one day.“

Michael Hall, Principal at GSAL, said, “Lolita’s passion for her sport is clear and she’s done so well to achieve excellent GCSE grades alongside her cricket commitments. GSAL today, Lord’s tomorrow!”

GSAL’s GCSE Class of 2026 includes two junior golfers, a Team GB showjumper and a Bradford City footballer. Six students had particular cause for celebration after receiving 9s – the highest possible grade – in 10 subjects. 35 students achieved grades 8 and 9 across the board.
