Black History Month is a time for reflection, challenging stereotypes, and fostering inclusion. The 2024 theme is “RECLAIMING NARRATIVES.”
This October, we offer WNY members a 5% discount on one-off bookings and 15% discount on multiple bookings for the following workshops and services:
African and Caribbean Themed Cooking Workshops and Conversation Café:
Duration: 2 hours Price: £1,000 (excluding ingredients and travel)
Details: Explore the rich flavours and spices of traditional African and Caribbean cuisine in an interactive cooking workshop. Alongside cooking, engage in a Conversation Café where participants share experiences and perspectives on Black History. The session, facilitated by a deck of cards created by our CEO Valentina Hynes, delves into stereotypes, bias, and their impacts on culture and community. Participants will leave with enhanced cultural understanding and a stronger commitment to allyship.
Planting Workshop and Conversation Café:
Duration: 90 minutes Price: £950 (excluding travel)
Details: Discover the connection between African and Caribbean flora and fauna and cultural heritage. This hands-on planting workshop is complemented by a Conversation Café discussing stereotypes, bias, and their impacts. Facilitated by Valentina Hynes’ custom deck of cards, participants will gain insights into cultural narratives and practical tips for wellbeing and allyship.
African and Caribbean Themed Music Dance Class:
Duration: 90 minutes Price: £1,000 per session (excluding travel) Details: Experience the vibrant rhythms and movements of African and Caribbean dance in this energetic class. Participants will also join a Conversation Café, exploring cultural narratives and stereotypes through guided discussions. This session promotes physical wellbeing and cultural appreciation.
Conversation Café:
Duration: 60 minutes Price: £500 (excluding travel)
Details: Engage in deep, facilitated discussions on stereotypes, bias, and cultural narratives using the deck of cards designed by Valentina Hynes. This session aims to foster understanding, respect, and proactive allyship among participants.
