PIB Client Academy – Mitigating Flood Risk – Leeds -19/09/2024

4,8581 flood alerts and warnings were reported in the first 4 months of 2024.

These are figures recently published by the Environment Agency.

Flooding can have a devastating impact on businesses of all shapes and sizes and statistics show that 1 in 6 properties in the UK are at risk of flooding, surface water being the biggest risk with 2.8 million properties at risk.

We invite you to join us at our free to attend  PIB Client Academy ‘Mitigating Flood Risk’ workshop at Thorpe Park Hotel in Leeds on Thursday 19th September.

Our Head of Risk Engineering, David Plowman will discuss a risk assessment-based approach to flood risk engineering, help you to understand the risks presented, what the impact might be and how you might mitigate against some of these potential losses.

In the first part of the session, David will cover the current position around flood in the United Kingdom; assessing the levels of risk and the impact which this might have on a business.

The second part of the session will help you to consider the mitigating measures which you may wish to apply to reduce either the likelihood or severity of a loss as a result of flooding.

Presenter Bio

David Plowman

Head of Property Risk Engineering.

David brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, with the past 22 years dedicated to risk management, surveying, and consulting.

In his technical specialist role at PIB, David supports the business by helping to understand and manage operational risks for clients. He assists the broking teams in preparing detailed risk insight reports, providing technical input, and facilitating discussions with the insurance market to aid in policy placements.
