Charity golf day at the York Golf Club, Strensall, York – Thursday 8th May 2025
I am a former President of the York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and was the inaugural Chair of the West & North Yorkshire Chamber. As a fellow Chamber member, I would like to invite you to the annual Charity Golf Day of York Vikings Rotary Club at York Golf Club, Strensall, York, which takes place on Thursday 8 May. York Golf Club is a top ten Yorkshire golf course and our golf day is considered one of the best annual charity sporting events in North Yorkshire.
We have a wide range of prizes, including a number of four balls at local courses, nearest the pin, longest and straightest drives and our well-known ‘Flutter Hole,’ where you have an opportunity to double your money. We also have an amazing raffle and tombola thanks to the generosity of a number of our friends and supporters.
During last year’s event, we raised over £10,000, taking the total raised since we started to run the Charity Golf Event to over £230,000. All this money goes to a variety of very carefully researched and local worthwhile causes and helps to improve the lives of a great many people who are less fortunate than ourselves.
We could not do all of this without your generous support and the support of many others who give their time, take advertising space in the programme, sponsor holes and donate prizes both for the raffle and tombola, including SAY SCAFFOLDING for once again supporting us this year. We are extremely grateful for their ongoing help.
We would be delighted if you were able to join us by entering a team of four players. The competition will be the usual relaxed format, playing Stableford, with the two best scores on each hole to count. Those players who have a WHS handicap will apply the course slope rating to give them a course handicap. Those without a WHS handicap will receive full handicap allowance up to a maximum of 28 for men and a maximum of 36 for ladies. We will be handing out scorecards to each team before play, with the correct handicaps already entered.
All counting players’ scores should be recorded on each team’s card, with gross scores and net points. Gents will play from the Yellow Tees using the Yellow Tee Stroke allowance and Ladies off the Red Tees, using the Red Tee stroke allowance.
There will be team prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, as well as individual prizes for nearest the pin on several holes, longest drive, straightest drive and a putting competition.
The entry cost for a team of four will be £280. This includes tea / coffee on arrival, superb refreshments at the Halfway House provided by York Vikings Inner Wheel and a two-course meal, which can be taken either before you go out, or after your round. The meal will be served between 2.00 pm and 8.30 pm.
