PNG powerhouse Appo signs new two year deal
Bradford Bulls are delighted to announce fans’ favourite PNG powerhouse Keven Appo has signed a new two-year deal – keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026 season!
The 25-year-old arrived at Bartercard Odsal in February last year, making an instant impact – scoring 10 tries as the Bulls reached the play-off semi final and the club would like to thank the Bradford Bulls Squad Booster Association for their contribution.
The Prince of Papua New Guinea has continued his impressive form in 2024, scoring 7 tries so far this season including three in his last two appearances.
Appo insists this is the “best decision” he could have made – admitting there is excitement at what the club can achieve in the near future.
“I am so happy I have extended my contract to stay with the club, I feel it’s the best decision I could’ve made for me and my family. With the coaching staff and the players we have now, I feel like they bring out the best in me,” said Appo, who is sponsored by Roy Sunderland.
“I feel part of the team, I feel like I belong to the club. My family really enjoy it here and it is a family orientated club, that is what I first realised when I came over with my family, we are really happy to be staying.
“I can see we’re heading towards something bigger that the club desires, taking one step at a time and I want to be a part of that, doing the hard stuff. I want to make a name for myself and to help contribute towards success for this team is what I want to do.
“The fans are always lovely and always supportive. They are the ones who give us a boost and give us the determination to make the next step, they follow us home and away and show their support week in, week out and it really motivates us.
“For me personally, they sing my song and wave my countries flag and it makes me really emotional seeing my countries flag in the crowd, it gives me a different kind of boost altogether. I love the fans.”
Bradford boss Eamon O’Carroll has spoken of his delight at retaining Appo’s services until the end of 2026 – praising his meticulous nature and determination to continue developing.
“I am extremely delighted to get Keven over the line for a further two years – he is a huge hit not only with the fans but also within the group,” said O’Carroll – who is sponsored by M & S Combustion Ltd.
“He is well liked and well respected, he has really impressed me since I first came to the club. He is meticulous in his preparation, the way he goes about looking after himself and the way he wants to further develop and that has transferred onto the field in terms of his performances.
“I am really happy for Keven and his family, they get to settle and they’ve made Bradford their home and I am looking forward to working with him over the next couple of years.
“I’d also like to thank the generous members from Bradford Bulls Squad Booster Association for their continued support and contribution towards Keven’s signature.”
