Primark unveils new £6m Bradford store in The Broadway

Primark has today unveiled its newly enhanced Bradford store, located at The Broadway shopping centre in the heart of the city. The new store features the same quality fashion at great value prices that Primark is known and loved for, with a fresh new look and feel.

The new Bradford store represents an investment of £6m in the locality and forms part of the retailer’s £100 million investment in its UK store estate this year. This comes as Primark continues to celebrate 50 years on the Great British High Street after first opening its doors in September 1974 in Derby.

All 174 colleagues in Primark’s Bradford store team, including 13 managers, have moved from the nearby Kirkgate Centre, which has closed its doors after 18 years. The centre is due to be redeveloped as part of the local Council’s city regeneration plans.

The new Primark Bradford measures 40,000 sq ft across two floors, and will include customers’ favourites across fashion, accessories, beauty, lifestyle, and homeware items. Visitors to Primark Bradford will enjoy an enhanced shopping experience with new features such as new LED lighting, updated fixtures and fittings, 16 self-checkouts alongside 6 serviced tills and 24 fitting rooms including family and accessible options.

Primark shoppers won’t want to miss out on first access to the latest Primark Presents Rita Ora collection ‘Lazy Daze’ in time for Autumn. The collection features kooky, retro ‘grandpa’ styling and colourful knitwear, tweed, loafers and rugby-style sports shirts and is due to land in all Primark stores globally from 10 September.

Primark’s  Director of Sales for the North East, Conor Walsh, said: “Our new location in The Broadway puts us in the heart of the action in the city and we’re delighted to be opening our doors. Our teams have worked hard to get the store ready for opening day and we’re excited for our customers to see our new store. It’s great to be well-placed in Bradford to better serve the needs of our customers and we’re confident the refreshed look and feel will offer a great store experience for our local customers and colleagues to enjoy together.”

Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, added: “We are delighted to welcome Primark to The Broadway today, underscoring the centre’s position as a go-to shopping destination in the city. The new Primark store will not only offer an enhanced shopping experience but also contribute to the diverse range of brands and services we strive to provide to our customers.”

The new Primark Bradford store is one of several relocations that are part of the retailer’s £100 million investment in its UK store estate this year, alongside High Wycombe which opens on Wednesday 11 September and Bolton which is expected later this year. Primark is also preparing for further updates to its UK store portfolio as it looks to roll out Click & Collect to all its stores in England, Scotland and Wales by the end of 2025.
