Leeds Beckett University celebrates reaccreditation of prestigious Small Business Charter Award
Leeds Beckett University has been reaccredited after a recent assessment, recognising the ongoing impact of its work supporting small businesses, student entrepreneurship and local economic growth.
The award, granted by the Charter Association of Business Schools and the Small Business Charter, places Leeds Beckett among a select group of UK universities acknowledged for their deep engagement with SMEs and strong impact through a raft of initiatives.
Professor George Lodorfos, Dean of Leeds Business School at Leeds Beckett, said: “The Small Business Charter has been an incredible catalyst for Leeds Beckett, shaping our direction and deepening our commitment to our shared mission to drive real impact for our students, staff, businesses and communities.”
Since receiving the Charter in 2016, the university has supported well over 1,000 businesses through tailored programmes and collaborative projects.
Elland-based Colchester Machine Tool Solutions is one of many firms to benefit. Managing Director Jonathan Wright said: “Partnering with Leeds Beckett University Business School on our management KTP project has been a transformative experience for us. Through the collaboration, we’ve gained valuable insight.”
Aquatrust, a water hygiene company based in Cleckheaton, also saw transformative results. Managing Director Paul Kenny said: “The Help to Grow programme from Leeds Beckett helped strengthen my leadership skills. It’s improving how me work and helping us meet our sustainability goals. The impact has been huge so far and we’re looking forward to continuing the partnership.”
The Small Business Charter reaccreditation is valid for five years and reinforces Leeds Beckett University’s role as a key driver of innovation, leadership development and growth within the region’s business landscape.
