Andrew Jackson Solicitors and Azets advise on sale of Tetley’s Motor Services to FirstGroup

Regional law firm Andrew Jackson Solicitors LLP, and top 10 accountancy firm Azets, announce that they have advised the shareholders of Leeds-based coach operator Tetley’s Motor Services (“Tetley’s”) on the sale to FirstGroup, as part of its continued expansion in the sector.

Established for over 75 years, family business Tetley’s operates from a large depot located next to FirstGroup’s Hunslet Park depot in Leeds. Tetley’s has a fleet of 55 coaches and buses and runs a strong portfolio of high capacity contracts including for schools, universities, workplace shuttles and private hire in Leeds and throughout the West Yorkshire area.

Tetley’s managing director, Ian Tetley, will remain with the business while it is integrated into FirstGroup.

A multi-disciplinary team from Andrew Jackson Solicitors provided legal advice on the transaction, led by corporate partner Susie Mortonson, who was supported by Robert Hill, real estate partner, Fiona Phillips, tax partner, Gillian Markland, employment partner, and Benn Shilleto and Grace Hanson in the corporate team.

Nick Barker, corporate finance partner, led the team from Azets Yorkshire comprising Liridon Gashi and Will Eardley in the corporate finance team, and Richard Whitelock and Karen Sadler from the tax team, who advised the shareholders throughout the sale process.
