Friends of York Against Cancer Campaign Launched
York Against Cancer, an independent charity helping people affected by cancer in York, North and East Yorkshire, have launched their Friends of York Against Cancer campaign.
The charity provides a range of support services for cancer patients and their loved ones, including a free minibus that takes people from York to St. James’s Hospital in Leeds for radiotherapy appointments, free short breaks in two luxury respite properties to for cancer patients and their loved ones to take time away, an award-winning mobile chemotherapy unit, free, tailored exercise classes for cancer patients and a cancer support centre, The Leveson Centre. Through this new campaign, the charity hopes to encourage people to become regular donors, ensuring that York Against Cancer’s vital care and support can continue now and long into the future.
For Kate and her family, the support offered by York Against Cancer was a “lifeline.”
“We found The Leveson Centre, York Against Cancer’s cancer support centre, just after my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer. I’ve had lots of support from the team here in some really dark and scary times. It’s made such a difference knowing people understand and care.”
York Against Cancer is encouraging businesses to get involved in the campaign through payroll giving initiatives. Every penny given will go towards funding the charity’s care and support services, life-saving research and cancer awareness and education. By becoming a friend of York Against Cancer, you can ensure that no-one in our community has to face cancer alone.
