100 Bradford businesses back local hospital charity
From takeaways to pharmacies, businesses unite behind families with babies on the neonatal intensive care unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
More than 100 businesses and faith organisations across Bradford have committed to supporting Bradford Hospitals Charity, showing strong community backing for local healthcare.
The money raised and donated will help build a ‘Home from Home’, which is new free accommodation for families with babies on the neonatal intensive care unit, born unwell or as early as 22 weeks. It’ll be built just next door, so they’re never more than a few steps from their baby.
Ishfaq Farooq, charity ambassador and one of the owners of family business MyLahore and Wunder crumble, has been the driving force uniting the business community, encouraging many to donate, fundraise and raise awareness. Ishfaq said: “Bradford looks after its own, and this is personal for so many of us. Families shouldn’t have to worry about basic needs while their baby is in hospital, which is why we’ve committed to raise over £50,000. I’m incredibly proud of how local businesses have stepped up to help.”
Some have joined Bradford Hospitals Charity 100 Club (£1,000 a year), gaining access to exclusive events, recognition, networking, and updates, all while supporting projects that improve patient care. Others are displaying collection tins or raising awareness with customers. Each business is playing a vital role in creating a lasting impact for families facing some of their most difficult moments.
Laura Riach, from Bradford Hospitals Charity, said: “Ishfaq has only been our ambassador for six months and the difference he has made is outstanding. We are incredibly grateful to him and every business that has stepped forward to support this appeal. The response from Bradford’s business community has been overwhelming and shows just how much people care about local families.
“Each year, hundreds of babies need specialist neonatal care. The new accommodation will help families stay close, easing financial and emotional strain. Support like this brings us closer to making that vision a reality.”
One of the newest members of Bradford Hospitals Charity 100 Club is a local firework business in Bradford. Asim, owner of Top Shotter Fireworks, said: “As a local business, it’s important for us to give back to the community that supports us. This is such a meaningful cause, and we’re proud to stand alongside so many others across Bradford.”
The campaign highlights Bradford’s community spirit, with businesses of all sizes contributing to support families during difficult times.
