Blacks announces strong financial year as firm unveils refreshed brand

Blacks Solicitors LLP has today announced a record financial year alongside the launch of a refreshed brand identity, reflecting the firm’s continued growth and development.

The 2025/2026 financial year was the strongest in Blacks’ history, with turnover exceeding £22.9 million for the first time. During the year, Blacks supported clients across the UK, including Morrisons, Harmony Energy and Harrogate Spring Water.

Built around the strapline, “Legal expertise. Human inspiration”, the brand reinforces the business’s position in the market dealing with complex transactions and supporting high-net worth individuals, while highlighting the personality, empathy and human approach that underpins its client service.

Discussing this new chapter, Managing Partner Chris Allen said: “We wanted a brand that reflects who we are today and supports our ambitions for the future, while remaining true to the values that have always defined the firm.”

This news follows a recent announcement that the business is set to move its headquarters to the newly acquired office space across the fourth and fifth floors at 29 King Street in Leeds.

Chris continued: “Alongside our office move, the rebrand creates an identity that supports our long-term vision for the firm, our people and our clients. We’re incredibly proud of our financial results, particularly as more than a third of our clients are retained through repeat instructions, underlining Blacks’ strong reputation for client service. Overall, the exciting changes signal a significant new chapter for Blacks.”

The independent legal practice has continued to see strong return hires over the past 12 months, including the recent return of two senior appointments, Merissa Galley and Phil Parkinson.

Headcount has increased significantly, growing by more than 35 percent over the past four years – from 184 to 250. Alongside returning team members, Blacks has maintained its people-first approach and continued investing in future legal talent through the onboarding of three new trainees and three newly qualified solicitors over the last quarter.

The 33 partner firm provides a wide range of legal services to commercial and private clients in Yorkshire, the UK and internationally, and is focused on delivering legal expertise and human inspiration.
