York youth festival

York Youth Festival returns to Rowntree Park this summer

Young people across the city are invited to take part in the York Youth Festival, returning to Rowntree Park on Wednesday 22 July, from 2pm to 5pm.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the festival will once again provide a free, fun and welcoming space for young people to come together, enjoy activities, connect with friends and celebrate youth culture in York.

The York Youth Festival is led by York Youth Council, with support from City of York Council, and reflects young people’s priorities for more opportunities to socialise, take part in cultural activities and feel represented in their city. The event is aimed at teenagers in York and is organised by local 11-18 year olds who attend Youth Council

The afternoon will feature a variety of free activities and entertainment, including live music from local young musicians and bands, an opportunity to try VR headset technology, alongside opportunities for local organisations to engage directly with young people. The event is open to all young people in York, with no need to book, just turn up and get involved.

If you are part of a music act and want to get involved, contact yorkyouthcouncil@york.gov.uk

Will from the York Youth Council said: “It’s going to be a great event this year, bring your friends along. There will be free food, live music, lots of games and things to do. We’re excited to see you there!”

Councillor Bob Webb, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: “It’s fantastic to see young people taking the lead in shaping events like this. The York Youth Festival offers a positive and inclusive environment for young people to meet others, try new activities and build confidence.”
