North Yorkshire housebuilder donates £3,000 to homelessness charity

Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated £3,000 to Sleepsafe Selby, helping to support vulnerable adults experiencing homelessness.

Established in 2018, Sleepsafe Selby aims to support local rough sleepers and help individuals to overcome challenges that prevent them from maintaining safe and secure housing. Providing accommodation for up to 10 people at a time, the charity intends to create a safe and secure environment to help individuals move on to independent living and break the cycle of homelessness.

Tracey Romaine, Founder and Manager of Sleepsafe Selby, said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive this donation. We were not expecting it, so it was a lovely surprise.

“We are constantly looking for ways to generate funds to keep our charity running, so this donation of £3,000 will ease a lot of that pressure. Our energy bills can be very high and the funds will go directly towards covering those bills.

“We would like to thank Barratt and David Wilson Homes for thinking of and supporting Sleepsafe Selby. It is great that the developers are thinking of others in the community who may be struggling and helps with these donations.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of The Barratt Redrow Foundation, a charitable fund focused on helping communities throughout the UK to thrive.

Daniel Smith, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: “We are delighted to donate to Sleepsafe Selby. The work the non-profit charity does is a vital service to the North Yorkshire community and goes a long way to helping to break the cycle of homelessness in the area.

“As we continue to build in the region, we are committed to supporting the community and services such as Sleepsafe Selby that help individuals of the community.”
