£1m AV transformation at University of Bradford in running for second award

A £1m overhaul of audio-visual infrastructure at the University of Bradford is in the running for its second prestigious industry award, recognising its impact on student experience, sustainability and hybrid learning.

Delivered by Roche AV Pro, the ambitious upgrade tackled years of underinvestment across the campus estate, replacing outdated systems with cutting-edge technology.

The project has been named a finalist in the AV Awards 2025 – Education Project of the Year and has already won Hikvision’s Smart Classroom Pioneer Award 2025.

The transformation includes:

  • A flagship lecture theatre featuring a 10m-wide 4K LED wall – the largest ever installed by Roche AV.
  • A doubling of hybrid meeting spaces across campus.
  • Enhanced AV facilities for midwifery, physiotherapy and other health disciplines.
  • Integration of Extron NAV AV-over-IP, WolfVision Cynap, and Clevertouch systems for seamless collaboration.

Russ Hind, Head of IT Service Delivery, said: “This project has completely changed how we teach, collaborate and connect. It’s not just about tech, it’s about creating spaces that inspire.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shirley Congdon added: “Students rightly expect to interact with the latest technology. This investment reflects our commitment to delivering an outstanding learning experience.”

The AV overhaul forms part of a wider multi-year investment in campus infrastructure, including upgrades to Student Central and the J B Priestley Library.
