Accu celebrates major win at Northern International Trade Awards
Accu, a leading global distributor of engineering components, has been named International Company of the Year (£10m–£30m) at Insider’s Northern International Trade Awards, which celebrates the successes of the North West, North East and Yorkshire’s top exporters, importers and their supply chains.
The prestigious award recognises Accu’s achievements in delivering an unrivalled service for the supply of quality components to over 115,000 active customers across more than 120 countries.

Founded in 2012, Accu has grown into an organisation operating from a 45,000 sq. ft. facility in Huddersfield with an expanding team of over 130 employees. Supplying over 500,000 precision components, the company’s continued investment in people, warehouse management systems, innovation and product development has driven impressive international growth and positioned Accu as a trusted partner for innovators worldwide. Now, over 70% of the world’s top 100 manufacturers rely on Accu as a key supply partner.
The judging panel praised Accu for its technical expertise, describing the company as true engineers and a facilitator of innovation. This highlighted Accu’s ability to empower innovators, developers and engineers with access to high-performance components. This includes Accu components being used in such diverse applications as within an innovative drone system that precisely measured humpback whales in Iceland, offering valuable insights into their health and activities. Accu has also supplied adventurer and sailor Adam Waugh with A4 stainless steel marine screws for the construction of his boat as he sails around the world raising funds for the Ella Dawson Foundation.

Accu’s international presence has been central to its growth with North America representing the largest single market outside of the UK. To meet market needs in the US, Accu has prioritised localisation by expanding its product component range, enhancing its website and providing tailored customer support that reflects regional requirements. The company also plans to open a US distribution centre in Indiana to further improve delivery speed and customer service.
Alastair Morris, Managing Director at Accu, says: “We are really proud of this award, which is testament to our growth, our people-first culture, our investment in technology and our commitment to innovation. Over the last 13 years, we have invested in our team, our facility in Huddersfield and in expanding our range of components to supply everything that an engineer or inventor needs and with unrivalled customer service. We’re excited to be expanding our presence in North America by establishing a US distribution centre, expanding our product portfolio and investing in advanced analytics for targeted marketing.”
