Bradford Garden Centre adds fresh fish to its retail offering
A Bradford garden centre has added a weekly fresh fish offering for its customers.
Mobile fishmonger Jody Douglass from The Grimsby Fish Company, sells fresh fish and shellfish from a bespoke van at the entrance to Tong Garden Centre between 10 am and 2 pm every Wednesday.
Mr Douglass, who has been in the fish trade for 24 years, is delighted to add Tong to his rounds that include the Station Pub in Crigglestone, Binks Butcher’s in East Ardsley and New Inn Walton Market. He said: “Tong’s customers have been very welcoming and appreciate the high quality and the freshness of the fish that is sold on the day it is caught.
“I source my fish mainly from Grimsby, but I have access to all the fish markets in the UK and have several day boat contacts to ensure I always have a great selection for my customers. Haddock, and our fantastic RSPCA Freedom Food Accredited salmon are always good sellers, followed by our Sashimi grade tuna and dive-caught king scallops.”
Tong Garden Centre manager, Paul Adams, is delighted with the addition of The Grimsby Fish Company: “Jody’s fish complements our fresh fruit and vegetable offering at the entrance of the centre and is proving very popular with customers.”
Tong Garden Centre occupies a 19-acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire’s biggest independent garden centres, with 11,600m2 of retail space and parking for up to 700 cars. It is part of the Yorkshire Garden Centres (YGC) family that also owns Tingley, Otley, Bingley and Pennine Garden Centres plus Dean’s in York and Scarborough.
