Candidates announced for Heworth Ward by-election

The list of candidates standing for the Heworth by-election has been published at https://www.york.gov.uk/HeworthWardByElection.

The election will take place on Thursday 15 January 2026 with polling hours between 7am and 10pm, and with the count taking place at the close of poll at The Centre @ Burnholme.

Residents who are not currently registered to vote are encouraged to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or call 01904 551007. All applications must be made by midnight on Monday 29 December 2025.

If you do not have an accepted form of photo ID, you no longer look like the photo on your ID or the name on your photo ID is different to your name on the electoral register, you can apply for a free voter authority certificate online at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate. Applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 7 January 2026.
