Leading housebuilder donates £1,500 to North Yorkshire horse riding charity
Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to York and District RDA, a York based charity enriching lives through innovative equestrian programmes.
York and District RDA is a registered charity that is part of the Riding for the Disabled Association. The group was established 55 years ago by Mrs Margaret Dibb, who is still a Trustee and Committee Member of the group.
The volunteers provide riding sessions for disabled riders helping improve mobility, boost physical health and mental wellbeing, build confidence, and teach new skills. The riding sessions are hosted on Monday afternoons, Wednesday evenings in the summer and Saturday mornings.
Across the UK, there are 450 Riding for the Disabled centres making a lasting impact through the therapeutic power of horses.
Carole Johnson, Chairman of the York and District Riding for the Disabled Group, said: “We are very grateful to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for this £1,500 donation. This contribution will go directly towards vital rider and pony equipment, helping us meet the ongoing costs of caring for our ponies and supporting our riders.”
Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
Daniel Smith, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: “We’re delighted to contribute to York and District RDA’s mission and help more people experience the benefits of its equestrian programmes. We hope this partnership encourages others to join in and help this charity continue its incredible work.”
