MasterChef: The Professionals stars to create six-course menu for Castle Howard event
Chefs Alex Webb and Philli Armitage-Mattin are creating a six-course tasting menu for a brand-new evening event at Castle Howard this April. Alex and Philli featured on MasterChef: The Professionals in 2020, with Alex taking the crown and Philli in final four.
Alex and Philli are collaborating with Castle Howard on a seasonal menu showcasing the best Yorkshire ingredients, sourced from Castle Howard’s local suppliers and from the Estate itself, showcased at an evening event hosted in the stately home’s historic Grecian Hall.
The event builds on Castle Howard’s recent successful, sell-out supper clubs hosted by British-Iranian chef Sabrina Ghayour, and Castle Howard Head Chef Nathan Richardson-Kelly.
Nathan Richardson-Kelly said: “Castle Howard has a rich food culture, rearing our own beef, lamb, and pork on the Estate, and celebrating ingredients grown in our kitchen garden and foraged from our wider landscape. We’re so excited to showcase the best of North Yorkshire in this delicious six-course menu, created by the brilliantly creative Alex and Philli. This event kicks off a fantastic program of delicious events hosted in our House and Gardens this summer, and we’re excited to invite visitors to take part in these intimate foodie experiences.”
Winner of Masterchef: The Professionals 2020, Alex Webb impressed with his signature cuisine which fused his classical French training with his childhood food memories. Alex has worked at The Frog, Roux at Parliament Square, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and the Michelin Star restaurant Helene Darroze at The Connaught.
Philli Armitage-Mattin trained at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants and has spent time training and working in Japan. Her debut cookbook Taste Kitchen: Asia launched Sept 2022, and in the same year was resident at Number One Park Lane Terrace at the Intercontinental Hotel Park. Philli wowed judges with her skills making it down to the final four on MasterChef the Professionals 2020.
The Howardian Hills in North Yorkshire, where Castle Howard is located, is fast becoming a food and drink destination, with Helmsley and the Howardian Hills named the UK’s “Most Exciting Food Destination” for 2024 by the Good Food Guide, Hovingham restaurant Myse awarded a Michelin Star, and Malton celebrated as the UK’s Food Capital.
