National Offer Day for primary schools- York children allocated their Reception school place for September

A total of 94.3% of children who applied for a Reception place at a primary school in York this September were allocated their first choice on National Offer Day [Thursday 16 April].

All the children who applied for a Year 3 place in a junior school were allocated their first choice.

Parents who applied online will receive an email advising of their child’s school allocation and can also find out where their child has been allocated a place by logging into their parent portal account today. All parents will also receive a letter to advise of their child’s school allocation.

Councillor Bob Webb, Executive Member for Education, Children and Young People, at City of York Council, said: “Starting school for the first time is such an exciting time for children and their families.

“Schools in York are really good at helping pupils settle into their new Reception and Junior classes as quickly as possible.

“And there are lots of things parents and carers can do to help make sure their child is ready for school. We’re sharing dedicated school readiness resources with families for the first time this year, which I hope parents and carers will find useful.”

Any parent whose child/children may be eligible for free school meals in September, is advised to apply over the Summer before their child starts school. Information can be found at www.york.gov.uk/FreeSchoolMeals
