NNFCC Ltd has officially rebranded to Alder BioInsights

NNFCC Limited, an award-winning consultancy in the bioeconomy sector, has officially rebranded to Alder BioInsights. Based at York Science Park, the rebrand marks a new milestone in the company’s history which spans over 20 years. While NNFCC Ltd remains the registered company name, the refreshed brand identity reflects a stable and adaptive approach to leadership in the bioeconomy sector. Signifying the company’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of the industry, providing strategic support and insights to businesses, governments, and organisations within the evolving bioeconomy landscape.

Adrian Higson, Managing Director, shared his thoughts on the rebrand, saying, “We’ve come a long way since NNFCC was founded, and this rebrand marks an exciting new chapter for us. Alder BioInsights captures who we are today – a company grounded in science, committed to sustainability, and deeply engaged across the full spectrum of the bioeconomy.”

Founded in 2003 by the UK Government as the National Non-Food Crops Centre, NNFCC initially focused on the rural economy and industrial crop applications. Over time, the company broadened its expertise to encompass areas such as anaerobic digestion, bioenergy, biofuels, and biobased products. This expansion has enabled Alder BioInsights to build a strong reputation as a trusted advisor, helping clients navigate the complexities of feedstocks, technology, policy, and market development within the bioeconomy.

In addition to its work in renewable energy, Alder BioInsights is making significant strides in the biobased products sector, helping to drive innovation and growth in the market. The company’s in-depth expertise spans agricultural, forestry, and industrial waste feedstocks – areas that are vital to the global transition towards a circular and low-carbon economy.

The decision to transition to Alder BioInsights arose from the desire to more accurately reflect the full scope of the company’s work. Lucy Hopwood, Business Development Director, explained,

“While NNFCC is a recognised name in the UK bioeconomy sector, its historic reference to crop-based feedstock doesn’t represent the breadth of our activity, which covers all biological feedstocks, from food and livestock waste to crops and forestry. To avoid any confusion, we’ve decided to update the name—but the people, the focus, and the integrity remain the same.”

With a bold new identity, Alder BioInsights is clearly positioned to lead as the bioeconomy continues to evolve.
