Non-alcoholic York Gin wins national gold medal
York Gin is celebrating a national gold medal for its non-alcoholic spirit.
York Zero was awarded the top prize at the national Free From Awards at a glittering ceremony in London.
It won gold in the No and Low Alcohol category sponsored by the Low No Drinker magazine.
The alcohol-free spirit is made in collaboration with specialist alcohol-free manufacturers Bax Botanics from Wetherby.
It is distilled with juniper and other herbs, fruit and spices associated with gin.
Says York Gin Director, Natalie Hall: ‘We’re delighted with this win for York Zero. Our alcohol-free gin is a firm favourite with lots of customers who want a booze-free but grown-up drink. Juniper is definitely at the forefront of the flavour profile – so it’s a great alternative for gin drinkers.
‘And it’s on several cocktail menus in York, including The Star Inn The City who make some delicious alcohol-free cocktails with it.
‘We’re delighted for our collaborators Bax Botanics down the road in Wetherby who are truly inspired alcohol-free distillers. It’s a real Yorkshire success story.’
York Zero is available in the York Gin shop and online priced £23 for a 70cl bottle.

The Free From Food Awards are the UK’s only awards dedicated to food and drink that is free from one or more of the top 14 major allergens.
First launched in 2008, the awards are now highly anticipated events in the free from calendar, celebrating the very best in free from food and drink. They are recognised for supporting, promoting and actively encouraging both existing and new product development.
Rigorous taste testing ensures that winners of these awards are benchmarks in the category, and small producers and supermarkets compete on a level playing field for one of the coveted awards.
Since 2008, thousands of free from products have been blind tasted by specialist judging panels, featuring chefs, developers, manufacturers, nutritionists and allergy reactors.
The awards are entirely independent, supported by sponsorship and entry fees only.
