Notre Dame alumnus shares Rolls Royce insights
On Friday 24th January Elijah Gatewood-Skeete returned to Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College to discuss his degree apprenticeship at Rolls Royce. Elijah left Notre Dame in 2023 and began at Rolls Royce in September 2024, on their highly competitive degree apprenticeship programme, where is one of just four other people. On Elijah’s apprenticeship, he completes four days of work and one day at university per week.
During the visit staff and students asked about the application process, which involved multiple interviews including faceless interviews, in which AI can assess a candidate before it is reviewed by a hiring team. At Rolls Royce, Elijah works for the department that improves the jet lane engines, specifically the blades.
Elijah gave lots of valuable advice to students who were interested in doing a degree apprenticeship, a pathway that is becoming very popular. It was fantastic to see him again in college, and we’re grateful for the extremely helpful advice that he shared with our students.
