Planning approved for Dishoom’s new Leeds restaurant
Major Bombay-inspired dining destination set to further enhance Leeds’ premium retail and leisure district
Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS) announces that planning approval has been granted for Dishoom’s highly anticipated new restaurant at Vicar Lane, Leeds. The renowned Bombay-inspired restaurant group will take over the former Flannels unit, occupying a prime 8,000 sq. ft space across two floors in one of the city’s most vibrant retail and leisure hubs, nestled between the Victoria Gate and Victoria Quarter shopping centres.
The new Leeds restaurant will capture the spirit of Bombay’s iconic Irani cafés, blending traditional Indian design influences with contemporary elements to create a distinctive and atmospheric dining experience. Dishoom’s signature style—rich in heritage, storytelling, and character—will be brought to life throughout the new venue.
Dishoom Leeds will introduce the city to the restaurant group’s much-loved menu of Bombay-inspired dishes, from the iconic Bacon Naan Roll to the comforting House Black Daal. In addition, the Leeds location will debut a unique, special dish created exclusively for the city. Guests can look forward to an experience that celebrates the heart and soul of Bombay’s cafés, grills, street stalls, and homes.
In keeping with Dishoom’s long-standing commitment to giving back, the Leeds restaurant will participate in the brand’s “Meal for a Meal” initiative. For every meal served, Dishoom donates a meal to a child in need through partnerships with Magic Breakfast in the UK and The Akshaya Patra Foundation in India. Across its 11 UK cafés, Dishoom has already donated over 25 million meals, with the new Leeds opening set to continue this important work.

Charles Newman, Associate Director, Estates at TCS, commented:
“We are thrilled that planning approval has been granted for Dishoom’s arrival in Leeds. Dishoom’s signature Bombay-inspired hospitality and attention to detail make it a perfect fit for our city’s dynamic retail and leisure offering. We’re confident this new restaurant will become a major attraction for food lovers and visitors alike, further strengthening Leeds’ reputation as a cultural and culinary destination.”
Dishoom’s move to Vicar Lane is set to add an exciting new dimension to Leeds’ flourishing food scene, blending exceptional food with a vibrant, experiential dining environment. This opening further aligns with TCS’s vision of transforming landmark spaces into dynamic destinations that enhance the appeal of Leeds city centre.
TCS’s work to redevelop the building has now commenced, with the restaurant expected to open in late spring. The Dishoom team looks forward to welcoming guests to experience the unique atmosphere and Bombay-inspired flavours that have made their brand a household name across the UK.
