University nursery to remain open following consultation

The University of Bradford Nursery will remain open following consultation over its future.

The University announced a review of its early years’ service in March as part of a drive to save at least £16m in the next 12 months.

The consultation involved talks with staff, parents and carers, trade unions and other stakeholders.

Dave Harris, Director of People, Culture and Wellbeing, said: “The decision to consult on the future of the Nursery was not one we took lightly. We have listened carefully to all parties, not least parents and carers who we know really value the outstanding childcare service.

“The process has enabled us to suggest a number of changes to make the Nursery financially sustainable and these will now be implemented and reviewed periodically. We would like to thank all parties for their participation.”

Nursery staff were informed of the decision yesterday evening (Tuesday 24 June). Parents and carers have been informed today. (Wednesday 25 June).
