Yorkshire Building Society helps families get creative at Leeds Road Festival
Families from across Bradford got involved in creative activities with Yorkshire Building Society colleagues during this year’s Leeds Road Festival, a week-long celebration of culture, creativity and community that attracted more than 25,000 attendees when it launched last year.
Following its successful debut, the festival returned with events taking place across venues along Leeds Road before culminating in a vibrant finale at Bradford Moor Park on 15 and 16 August.
Over the festival weekend, colleagues from Yorkshire Building Society, one of the sponsors of the event, welcomed families to take part in a range of free activities designed to spark creativity and conversations about money.
Children were invited to personalise their own house-shaped money boxes, decorating labels with what they were saving for and taking them home as a reminder of their goals. Families also enjoyed colouring activities and creative crafts throughout the weekend.
Yorkshire Building Society colleagues volunteered their time across the event, helping families take part while connecting with members and local residents in a relaxed, fun and welcoming environment.
Emily Devanny, diversity, equity and inclusion specialist at Yorkshire Building Society said: “It was fantastic to be part of the Leeds Road Festival and spend time with local families over the weekend. One of the highlights was seeing children personalise their own house-shaped money boxes and share what they were saving for. It sparked some lovely conversations and showed how small activities can create meaningful moments.”
“As a building society, and major employer in Bradford we’re proud to support our local communities. Events like this give us the opportunity to meet people face to face, listen to what matters to them and support celebrations that bring people together.”
Saleem Akhtar, owner of Jinnah Restaurant and co-founder of Leeds Road Festival said: “Bradford has always been home to strong community-minded businesses who understand the importance of the city they’re based in. It is only through the generosity of organisations such as Yorkshire Building Society that we are able to make the festival a resounding success. I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to their colleagues, who have contributed their time and energy to this event: a true team effort.”
Yorkshire Building Society’s involvement reflects its commitment to supporting communities across Bradford and creating opportunities to engage directly with members, families and local residents through activities that bring people together.
